What is Seborrheic Keratosis?

Seborrheic keratosis is a common, non-cancerous skin growth that often appears as we age. These growths are typically brown, black, or light tan and have a slightly raised, scaly, or wart-like appearance. It is also known as seborrhoeic warts, senile warts, barnacles or basal cell papilloma.

Seborrheic keratosis lesions vary in size, from tiny to more than an inch in diameter. They can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the chest, back, head, or neck. These growths have a well-defined border and a "stuck-on" appearance, as if they have been pasted onto the skin's surface.

Although seborrheic keratoses are harmless, their appearance can be bothersome.

Although seborrheic keratoses are benign and harmless, their appearance can be bothersome. Regular monitoring and consultation with a skincare professional can help manage any concerns, ensuring peace of mind and maintaining skin health.

Causes of Seborrheic Keratosis

Primarily caused by the ageing process, these growths also tend to run in families, suggesting a hereditary component. Additionally, exposure to the sun may also contribute to the development of seborrheic keratoses, although they can also occur on skin not typically exposed to sunlight. Treatment for Seborrheic Keratosis

Treatment is usually not necessary unless the growths become irritated or itchy but is common when the lesions become cosmetically undesirable.

We use advanced electrolysis to remove Seborrheic Keratosis; a procedure that uses a fine probe and heat current to remove the lesion. The procedure is quick and can be performed on sensitive areas of the body.

Each Seborrheic keratosis is removed individually leaving the skin with a grazed appearance. During the healing process the skin will develop a temporary crust or scab. The healing rate is individual to each client, once fully healed the skin will be smooth.

How long does each treatment take?

Depending on the size and number of Seborrheic Keratosis to be treated, treatment time usually takes around 15-30 minutes.

What is the cost of treatment for Seborrheic Keratosis?

Treatment is typically £180 for one or a few lesions, with the cost increasing if additional treatment time is required to treat numerous lesions.
