Skin tags are medically referred to as Fibro Epithelial Polyps but are also known as verruca filiforms or filiform warts.

They are small, brown or flesh-coloured growths (usually a couple of millimetres to 5cm in size) that hang from the surface of your skin.

Skin tags are made of loose collagen fibres and blood vessels surrounded by skin and can look like warts or raised bumps. Although skin tags are common, they are completely harmless and do not usually cause any pain or discomfort. However, they can snag on clothing or jewellery and bleed as a result, and can also lower your self-esteem.

What causes skin tags?

Skin tags can affect both men and women. They most commonly occur in areas of friction or where the skin folds or creases (on the neck, armpits, eyelids around the groin or under the breasts) and are more likely to affect people who are overweight for this reason. Skin tags can be hereditary and people who have type 2 diabetes or are pregnant are also more prone to them. Some people can also develop them for no apparent reason. Skin tags are viral in nature and whilst not infectious, they often spread.

How can Skin Tags be removed?

At The Beauty Place we can safely remove unwanted skin tags in many areas of the body using advanced electrolysis techniques with Sterex technology. This technique provides very little downtime after treatment and results in smooth, healthy skin.

What is the treatment process and how many sessions will I need?

The first stage in skin tag removal treatment is consultation. During this time, the area to be treated will be examined and after discussing relevant medical details and treatment suitability we will advise on the best treatment plan for you. During your consultation, we will be able to answer any questions you may have about your skin tag removal treatment and give you personalised advice.

If you are suitable for treatment, we are able to carry out the procedure in-clinic on the same day.

Generally, skin tag removal requires only one treatment but treatment may be split over two appointments if there are many tags to be removed.

How long does skin tag removal treatment take?

Depending on the number of skin tags to be removed, treatment time usually takes around 5 - 25 minutes.

What is the cost of treatment?

Treatment costs typically range from £150 - £210 per treatment, depending on the size of the area and time needed for your appointment. Consultation and patch testing is required, although if you only have one or two skin tags, these can be treated in full as part of this.

Consultation is £20 and is inclusive of your aftercare product.
